iQuatics Airo Aquarium Activated Carbon - 1KG, 2KG, 5KG

Description:
Activated carbon is generally used for the removal of large organic molecules, chlorine pollutants, toxins and other chemical elements that are not removed by the use of a protein skimmer or other types of filtration.
iQuatics® Airo-Carbon has been designed and manufactured to the highest possible specifications; its high activity pelletised granular shape has a greater surface area that allows maximum flow and a high contact time.
Due to its sophisticated production process its low ash content helps to keep the pH of the water stable. This is done by using selected grades of bituminous coal-based carbon which is ideal for water purification as opposed to carbons manufactured from other base materials. Our bituminous carbon has the most transitional pores, varying in dimension rather than standard materials, which tend to have either small (micropores) or larger (macropores).
A misunderstanding in the industry of activated carbon is that acid washing will cause the leaching of phosphates. Leaching in phosphates (PO4) is caused by high levels of ash within the carbon. Acid washing and other methods of removing this ash content helps to reduce PO4 to an almost untraceable level.
When compared to other leading brands of carbon the iQuatics® Airo-Carbon out performed on absorption and removal of organic matter.
• High Iodine Number • Low Ash
• High Molasses Efficiency • Low Impact on pH
• Surface Area 1100m2/g
Let the results speak for themselves!!
The Basics:
Substances absorb to the exterior of the Activated Carbon granules
Substances move into the Activated Carbon pores
Substances are absorbed by the interior walled of the Activated Carbon
There are many advantages to be obtained from using smaller particles
The activated carbon works faster
Larger surface areas
Effective where the water flow rate is much faster
Perfect for external filter.
