Description:
High quality Painted Fire Red Cherry Shrimps. It's taken me years to improve the colours of this line.
Adults. Not tiny less than 1cm baby shrimps that will get eaten by even tiny fish as sold elsewhere. Buyers collecting these have previously tried shrimp from other sellers only to end up with expensive fish food.
Mix of females and males guaranteed for large orders. Males are not sold in fish shops so cherry shrimp bought through normal retail channels will not breed.
Red Cherry Shrimps are gregarious so a healthy starter colony should be at least 10 shrimps. Otherwise the shrimps will be shy and retiring in your tank, especially if you have fish in there with the shrimps.
Besides providing another aesthetic dimension to your tank, Cherry shrimp form an important part of a tank's ecosystem by breaking down organic waste which beneficial bacteria can't process. Tanks with shrimp are therefore much healthier.
Cherry shrimp colonies can be housed with smaller fish such as Endlers, Guppies, small Tetras, Rasboras, Corys, Ottos, etc as long as there are lots of floating and ground plants, little caves, stones and other hiding places for the shrimp. When introducing shrimp to a tank with small fish, acclimatise the shrimp to the tank water for at least 1.5 hours, switch off the tank light and ideally any room lights, and release the shrimp to a quiet part of the tank. Do not switch on lights again until the next day.
